Magic Carpet Ride - Wedding Gift Ideas

For a while now Imogen and I have been pestered by numerous friends and relatives as to what they can get us for wedding presents. So far we have really struggled as we really don't need fifteen toasters or a crystal cut punch bowl with six matching punch glasses.

Our previous honeymoon plan had been to head to New Zealand for an adventure holiday and so the idea was then to let you all buy us adventure along the way, such and bungey jumping or bog snorkelling. We could then send you all photo's of us partaking in the adventures. However, we have since changed the plan for the honeymoon we are now intended to spend a whole two weeks relaxing and doing nothing........which wouldn't make for very good thank you photos

So, we were back to square one and once again being hounded for wedding lists. We tried going to Debenhams in Dubai (yes, there is such a thing) but try as we may we couldn't find anything we wanted. Then when we asked about setting up a wedding list on line they said "No sir, but if the people want to come in and buy things for you we will let them".....great, Dubai is right on top of the internet revolution as you can see.

But fear not, this blog entry is not just another rant about how we can't decide something.......Oh no......this is in fact a post to let you all know that we have in fact thought of something!!

Imogen and I will (hopefully) be leaving the Middle East in teh not too distant future. As a momento of our time in Dubai we are thinking that we would really like a Persian Rug*. However really silk nice one (ie not from IKEA) can be quite pricey as they are all hand made but do last for ever.

We therefore thought it would be a great idea to get everybody who wants to buy us a gift to give us a donation towards the cost of a Persian Rug, which we will then buy when we get back to Dubai....or maybe go on a rug buying trip to Iran who knows. But you can be sure we'll share photos with you all.

If you would liek to make a donation then please feel free but please remember that as we are overseas we can't pay UK cheques into our bank accounts out here therefore if you want to giev a cheque please either make it out to 'Imogen Mason' or else pass it to my mum (Steven's Mum) and she will sort it out for us.
Thank you very much in advance to those who do dontate, but please don't feel you have to if you don't want to.

* Yeah yeah, we know. For the clever clogs out there we are quite aware that the UAE is not in Persia, nor is Persia (or Iran) part of the Arab World but hey ho.
