The Cakes

All I can say is thank you very much to Steven's mum and sister Meg. They were responsible for the wedding cakes. Steven's mum had the pleasure of making a 3 tier fruit cake complete with Royal Icing, Steven's favourite. Getting the cakes smooth was apparently a real challenge but with perseverance the cake looked amazing complete with bride and groom on top painted to match my dress and his waistcoat. Ollie the cat would love to have helped with the decorating of the cake but he was banished from the room for being too hairy. We all thought guests wouldn't appreciate Ollie's help with the cake.

The grooms cake was made by Steven's sister Meg who was coerced into producing a cake in the shape of Steven's other love, a bright yellow FJ Cruiser. Meg and Fiance John created the cake including all the details for the windscreen and wheels. Steven was very impressed, as was one of our youngest wedding guests James who helped to cut the cake.

Then there were the gingerbread men. Steven's mum, with a little help from Auntie Lorraine made over 100 gingerbread men as favors for the table. They were certainly a hit on the day and most were gone before the first course arrived.
