Its Official

Well, its official. On the 14th April 2009 Imogen and I went to Delemere House to give notice of our marriage, and so set into motion the wheels of officialdom that bring about a wedding.

We met with the assistant registrar on a chilly and slightly overcast Tuesday morning and were shown into a office where we had to be interviewed. We were warned that the questions were merely formality but she appologised if they appear rude or impertenant but they were designed to establish that we were definatly who we said we were and that we were marrying who we thought they were. I suspect these were so designed to weed out johny foreigner and ensur that he/she could enter into an arranged marriage with a her/him just the get in to the UK.

And so proceeded the ordeal, where we were grilled intensively by such taxing questions as "name", "occupation" and "age". This first hurdle bounded with ease then came the real show stoppers and I had to struggle with the nasties of "bride to be's name", "her age", "are you already realtaed to the bride to be" and "Is she a man or woman; yes or no" (I might have made that last one up).

Well, it would seem we survived this ordeal to the satisfaction of the inquisitor, I mean registrar (who was in fact a very nice lady) and our notice of marriage was accepted. Hurray!!

Afterwards we had a bit of a chat and she revealed that there have been occations where "are you already related in any way to the to bride" had not been responded to with a "no" (its scary that coursins can marry.....and do). We also found out that we were giving notice at the same place Wayne Rooney gave notice - and no he was NOT the person marrying his cousin.
